Competition regime: Competition and Markets Authority - government's strategic priorities

Closed 16 Aug 2015

Opened 20 Jul 2015

Overview

This consultation is on the government’s proposed new Ministerial Strategic Steer for the Competition and Markets Authority. The Steer outlines the government's strategic priorities for the CMA.

When the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) was established the government issued a non-binding Ministerial Strategic Steer outlining the government’s strategic priorities for the CMA.

The Steer provides a transparent statement of how the government sees competition fitting with its wider objectives for the economy. The Steer sits alongside the CMA’s accountability framework and its legal duties, particularly to promote competition for the benefit of consumers.
