Controlling the costs of biomass conversion and co-firing under the Renewables Obligation (RO)

Closed 26 Oct 2017

Opened 15 Sep 2017

Overview

This consultation seeks views from interested parties on proposals for controlling the costs of non-grandfathered biomass conversion and co-firing units under the Renewables Obligation, to apply from 1 April 2018 (subject to the outcome of this consultation and Parliamentary approval). The two options proposed are a generator cap or a re-banding of support levels.

The draft Impact Assessment contains an initial assessment of the net impacts of the proposals.

We are seeking views on both possible approaches and their likely impacts ahead of a final decision.
