Introducing a Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS)
Overview
The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero is seeking views on proposals for the Heat Network Technical Assurance Scheme (HNTAS). This scheme will introduce mandatory technical standards for heat networks across Great Britain to ensure low-carbon, reliable, and affordable heat delivery. We are consulting on governance structures, assurance processes, and key technical requirements.

Who should respond: Heat network developers and operators, local authorities, housing authorities, trade associations, property managers, building owners, landlords, consumer advocacy groups, energy suppliers, equipment suppliers, and metering providers.
Territorial extent: England, Scotland, Wales (technical standards reserved in Wales; Scotland and UK governments working together for GB-wide standards).
